A Comparison of Five Maintenance Therapies for Reflux Esophagitis

Patients with reflux esophagitis have a high rate of relapse within one year after therapy is discontinued.We enrolled 175 adults with endoscopy-confirmed reflux esophagitis in a prospective study comparing five maintenance therapies. All the patients were initially treated with omeprazole (40 mg orally once a day) for four to eight weeks, and healing was confirmed by endoscopy. Predicting the time variation of radio emission from MHD simulations of a flaring T-Tauri star

ABSTRACT We model the time-dependent radio emission from a disc accretion event in a T-Tauri star using 3D, ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations combined with a gyrosynchrotron emission and radiative transfer model. We predict for the first time, the multifrequency (1–1000 GHz) intensity and circular polarization from a flaring T-Tauri star. A flux tube, connecting the star with its circumstellar disc, is populated with a distribution of non-thermal electrons that is allowed to decay exponentially after a heating event in the disc and the system is allowed to evolve. Here, we explore the seasonality in a continuous time series of canopy solar induced fluorescence (hereafter SiF) and its relation to canopy gross primary production (GPP), canopy light use efficiency (LUE), and direct estimates of leaf level photochemical efficiency in an evergreen canopy. Actual evapotranspiration is assessed via surface energy balance at an hourly rate. However, a robust estimation of daily evapotranspiration from hourly values is required. Outcomes of surface energy balance are frequently determined via measures of eddy covariance latent heat flux. Surface energy balance can be applied on images acquired at different times and spatial resolutions. Re-entrance phase formation of CeSb thin films

Abstract We report the epitaxial growth of (1 0 0)- and (1 1 1)-oriented CeSb thin films on Al 2 O 3 (1 1 2 0) and (0 0 0 1) substrates by means of molecular beam epitaxy. Depending on the overall Sb-to-Ce flux ratio and the molecular state of Sb x , we observe a re-entrance behavior in the phase formation and orientation of CeSb on Al 2 O 3 (1 1 2 0) . This behavior is shown to exhibit, in some respect, similarities to III–V compound growth, but also more complexities due to the instability of the rare earth component against oxidation. A geometric orientation selection model is suggested which reproduces the observed re-entrance behavior as well as the overall CeSb growth rate.
Estimation of recombinant protein production in Pichia pastoris base don a constraint-based model

[EN] A previously validated constraint based model and possibilistic MFA have been used to design a simple estimator of protein production rate in Pichia pastoris cultures. A structured model of the yeast P. pastoris metabolism is used to predict the balance of key energetic equivalents such as ATP from available measurements, mainly substrate consumption, gases exchange rates and biomass specific growth. It has been shown that ATP flux can be related to biomass growth and protein productivity specific rates by linear regression. Abstract Depending on the substitution pattern and stereochemistry, 1,3-dioxanes 1 with an aminoethyl moiety in 4-position represent potent σ1 receptor antagonists. In order to increase the stability, a cyclohexane ring first replaced the acetalic 1, 3-dioxane ring of 1. A large set of aminoethyl substituted cyclohexane derivatives was prepared in a six-step synthesis. All enantiomers and diastereomers were separated by chiral HPLC at the stage of the primary alcohol 7, and their absolute configuration was determined by CD spectroscopy. In this paper, the performance of two control systems of induction motors for automotive applications were compared in order to highlight the differences in terms of response speed, robustness and noise immunity. The first system is realized through a field-oriented control with PI controllers, while the second system is realized through a field-oriented control with Sliding Mode Controllers. Both controls are designed to follow the torque references as required for the vehicles and are tested with typical load profiles of vehicles. It also designed a sliding mode observer flux.
